Ball State carried a one-goal lead into the half. That was until Lexi Fraley scored the go-ahead goal for BSU in the 41st minute. From that point, the two teams struggled to find an edge as the game progressed toward the later stages of the half. However, the Broncos were able to respond, as Jenna Blackburn placed a beautiful cross on the foot of Abby Werthman who was able to tie the game at 1-1 just over 20 minutes into the contest. Ball State opened the scoring in the sixth minute, as the ball pinballed around in the box before finding the foot of Kaitlyn Fraser who found the back of the net to give BSU an early 1-0 lead. It didn't take long for either team to get going offensively, as both squads scored on their first shots of the game. "We were pleased with the response and effort to implement our team game plan in the second half." "We knew that our opponents today would be a really challenging matchup for us, and we didn't do enough in the first half to earn the win," head coach Lewis Robinson said.
